How to keep Acrylic Swimming Pool cleaning

2025-05-08

Keeping an acrylic swimming pool clean requires both regular maintenance and specific care to preserve the clarity and integrity of the acrylic surfaces. Here's a comprehensive approach:

1. Regular Cleaning Routine

Use a soft sponge or microfiber cloth to clean the acrylic walls—never use abrasive materials like brushes or scouring pads, as they can scratch the surface.

Mild, non-abrasive soap mixed with water is ideal. Avoid ammonia- or alcohol-based cleaners, which can damage acrylic.

Do not use glass cleaners like Windex.

2. Water Maintenance

Test water weekly for pH (keep between 7.2–7.6), chlorine levels (1–3 ppm), and alkalinity (80–120 ppm).

Shock the pool regularly to break down organic waste, but ensure acrylic surfaces are rinsed after heavy chemical use.

Use a pool filter and run it daily to circulate and clean the water.

3. Prevent Algae & Cloudiness

Use algaecide as needed, especially in warm, sunny environments.

Vacuum the pool floor weekly and brush the non-acrylic surfaces to prevent buildup.

4. Protect the Acrylic

Install UV protection or covers to reduce long-term sun damage and discoloration.

Polish occasionally with an acrylic-safe polish to maintain clarity and remove fine scratches.

5. Seasonal Deep Clean

Drain the pool partially (if recommended by manufacturer).

Clean acrylic surfaces thoroughly with a safe cleaner.

Inspect for cracks or signs of aging and seal minor scratches with a special acrylic repair kit.
